New 237 acre Waccamaw River Park in Conway

The opening of the Waccamaw River Park, accessible from Depot Road in Conway, is the culmination of many years of effort by diverse partners working together to conserve our wonderful Waccamaw. These same partners came together to establish the Waccamaw River Blue Trail, a federally designated National Water Trail, connecting communities along the Waccamaw to our hometown river and encouraging stewardship of this important natural, cultural and historical resource. Protection of the Waccamaw and its surrounding lands is of critical importance as the river provides clean drinking water, opportunities for outdoor recreation and is home to many rare plant and animal species, some of which are found nowhere else on earth. The Waccamaw River Park is another part of this vision, offering plenty of opportunities for outdoor recreation, including hiking, biking, paddling and enjoying nature.

Special thanks to Gator Bait Adventure Tours for these fantastic pictures of Opening Day!
